Strengthening Families Program

The Guidance Center is now enrolling participants in Strengthening Families, a free seven-week program for children ages 10-14 and their parents or caregivers. The program will be held at The Guidance Center on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. from September 15 through October 27.  Applications are being accepted through September 4.
 
Strengthening Families is designed to help parents develop strategies for showing love and limits, help youth develop skills in handling peer pressure, and help families grow together. In communities across the country, Strengthening Families has produced positive results and worked to build resiliency, respect, and responsibility through a structured and supportive family environment.

Enrollment in the Strengthening Families program is required by September 4 and space is limited to fourteen families. A free meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. to participating families and child care will be available during the program. Since 1969 The Guidance Center, a non-profit organization has provided behavioral health and substance abuse services to children, families and adults in Flagstaff, Williams, and surrounding communities. The mission of The Guidance Center is to improve the behavioral health of the people of our community. We will be the provider of choice for behavioral health in Northern Arizona, offering a full range of high quality cost-effective services. The Guidance Center is contracted through NARBHA, the Regional Behavioral Health Authority for Coconino, Navajo, Yavapai, Apache and Mohave counties. Funds for services are provided through a contract with the Arizona Department of Health Services/Division of Behavioral Health Services and AHCCCS.
