Enjoy snacks\, refreshments\, and short films   all in support of a great cause.\n\nCelebrating Kelsey Pfendler\n\nThis year's gathering also celebrates Grand Canyon river guide Kelsey Pfendler\, who set out to become the first American woman\, youngest woman and fastest woman to row solo across the mid-Pacific   and did it in style. Pfendler rowed roughly 2\,400 miles from Monterey\, California to Honolulu\, Hawaii\, finishing in just under 44 days and breaking both the previous women's and men's speed records. Hundreds gathered to cheer her into the Honolulu harbor\, and her journey was followed by millions online. The organization is named for Curtis "Whale" Hansen\, a beloved Hatch boatman who died by suicide in 1995\; his river community came together afterward to build a foundation that ensures Grand Canyon guides have access to the support they need.
