Love: The Great Protector - A Tranquil Abiding Retreat on Developing Love
Cultivating universal love that embraces immeasurable living beings is the best way to deepen our spiritual practice and to benefit others in these troubled times. Currently this precious mind is very unstable and fleeting. We forget it for days on end as we immerse ourselves in mundane ways of thinking and acting. By training in meditative absorption on love it becomes spontaneous, unshakeable, and unconditional. Maintaining even one moment of this concentration accumulates vast merit and so is the main practice of a Bodhisattva. During this 5 day silent retreat we will take time to discover the magical world of loving-kindness within us.
Gen Samten Kelsang is an ordained Buddhist monk and is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center New York. He has been studying and practicing Buddhism for over thirty years and is one of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s most senior students. Before coming to KMC New York in Fall 2008, Gen Samten taught for many years in the United Kingdom, including at Manjushri KMC. He has engaged in focused meditation retreat at Tharpaland International Retreat Centre and now guides retreats year-round. He is regularly invited to give teachings and guide meditations at Kadampa Buddhist Centers throughout the United States and world. Gen Samten is well-known for his inspiring, clear and practical way of presenting Buddha’s teachings and meditation.
