Lowell42: Practical Aspects of Private Orbital Spaceflight
A Lowell42 Talk by Dr. Charles Simonyi
We know that people with the “right stuff” can safely fly in space, but what about the rest of us? Private spaceflight participant Charles Simonyi will describe first the preparations and training that led to two separate visits to the International Space Station in 2007 and 2009 for a total of four weeks, and also the practical aspects of living and working in space.
Bio: Dr. Charles Simonyi is a Hungarian-born American software developer known for developing the first versions of Microsoft Office. In April 2007 he became the 5th space tourist when he boarded the Soyuz TMA-10 to visit the International Space Station. Dr. Simonyi made a second trip to the International Space Station in March 2009. He is the only person to have been to the International Space Station twice as a paid tourist.
Live stream available Saturday, November 16 at 7pm Arizona time (MST).
