Executive Director- Flagstaff Shelter Services (Flagstaff) About Flagstaff Shelter Services, Inc. Flagstaff Shelter Services, (FSS) provides emergency shelter services for homeless individuals in Northern Arizona. Our Focus: Our focus is on the most critical group of homeless in Northern Arizona, chronically homeless men and women, many of whom have serious psychiatric disabilities or substance abuse issues. The only required qualification for service is that they need shelter, because they have no other options. Position: Executive Director. This position entails a combination of management and direct service responsibilities. The Director will be the chief of staff. Candidate must have a working knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel management, employee supervision, and training; budget development and fiscal management; grant and contract administration. Candidate must have a proven track record of successful grant writing. Responsibilities and Duties: ? Ensure equality of all sheltering programs ? Hire, fire, develop, and set compensation for staff ? Create and achieve annual operating and capital budgets ? Ensure adherence to Shelter financial policies ? Develop and conduct outreach and marketing strategies for the Shelter ? Raise funds through grant writing, contract development, donation solicitation and other means ? Manage all contracts, ensuring they meet contract requirements and that financial and programmatic reporting requirements are met ? Ensure a strong volunteer program ? Support the Board of Directors:  Provide timely materials, reports and statements  Maintain accurate board records  Other duties as assigned by the board ? Ensure compliance with all laws/covenants under which the Shelter operates ? Achieve goals and objectives in the strategic plan ? Work with other community agencies to improve services for the homeless ? Represent and promote the Shelter in the community Position Requirements: ? Minimum of 6 years of increasingly responsible management experience including staff management, budgetary responsibility and operations management. Proven ability to build community relations and raise funds. Experience/knowledge of nonprofits and/or nonprofit boards. Passion for this type of work. BA/BS degree or equivalent. Master's degree in related field preferred. ? Candidate must possess strong communication skills, computer skills, crisis intervention, and working understanding of group dynamics, and at least three years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience of employees. ? Demonstrates ability to act in a manner that respects the dignity, rights, and ability of clients/community members ? Demonstrated ability to represent FSS in contracts with the media, community groups, funders and government agencies in a successful fashion. ? Demonstrated ability to function as the lead in an executive management team ? Knowledge of case management, chemical dependency and mental illness models, focusing on problem solving approaches ?
