2026 Climb for a Cure
About This Event:
For many, colorectal cancer is the biggest mountain they will ever face, but they’re not doing it alone. We are here every step of the way, from diagnosis to survivorship and everything in between.
For eleven years, we've been raising funds for colorectal cancer research, reaching new heights together as we fight for more time.
Founded in 2016 by three colorectal cancer survivors, Climb for a Cure unites survivors, advocates, caregivers, and supporters to scale some of the most iconic mountains and trails in the world, symbolizing the strength, perseverance, and determination needed to combat colorectal cancer.
In 2026, Fight CRC will host the 11th annual Climb for a Cure, expanding the event into two distinct experiences for the first time: a National Climb and a Regional Climb.
-
The National Climb in Flagstaff, Arizona will offer two routes—a moderate climb and a more advanced summit—for participants from across the country.
-
The Regional Climb in Lake George, New York brings together the Fight CRC community with Wendy Harpp’s 7th annual New York climb, uniting our efforts under the Climb for a Cure banner.
Every step taken supports groundbreaking genetics research, amplifies survivor stories, and advances Fight CRC’s Path to a Cure.
Climb for a Cure is Fight CRC’s signature community-powered fundraising and awareness event—uniting survivors, caregivers, advocates, and supporters in a shared challenge that reflects the resilience, determination, and collective strength required to end colorectal cancer.
Founded in 2016 by passionate Fight CRC advocates, Climb for a Cure began with just 12 climbers raising $500. Today, it has grown into a powerful national movement, raising more than $1 million to accelerate lifesaving research and elevate the voices of those impacted by colorectal cancer.
The impact of Climb for a Cure is direct and measurable. Each year, funds raised support a colorectal cancer genetics research grant awarded in partnership with the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Gastrointestinal Cancer (CGA-IGC). This grant fuels innovative, early career research focused on hereditary cancer syndromes, familial colorectal cancer, and the alarming rise of early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC).
Recent grant-funded research has explored critical questions around why colorectal cancer is increasingly affecting younger adults—investigating factors beyond inherited genetics and uncovering new opportunities for prevention, earlier detection, and improved risk assessment. This work represents the kind of bold, actionable science needed to change the trajectory of colorectal cancer for future generations.
In July 2026, Fight CRC will host the 11th annual Climb for a Cure, offering three distinct climbing experiences across two iconic locations. Participants can choose from two climbs in Flagstaff, Arizona—with accessible and advanced routes—or a moderate climb in Lake George, New York. Every step taken supports groundbreaking genetics research, amplifies survivor stories, and advances Fight CRC’s Path to a Cure.
