Echoes & Undercurrents: Works by David Dawangyumptewa and Debra Edgerton
Echoes and Undercurrents conveys the importance of oral tradition and narrative in the creation of cultural and personal identity. Dawangyumpetwa’s mixed-media paintings depict symbolic and mystical imagery central in Hopi narratives, while Edgerton’s richly textured and intricate scrolls synthesize Japanese and African-American nonlinear storytelling.
