Family Friday: Learning to See with Mary-Russell
Livestreamed at 2:30 pm on the MNA Facebook page Artists and scientists must both observe the world closely, which is why Mary-Russell Ferrell Colton went out sketching in 1916 and noticed that there was once a village at what’s now known as Elden Pueblo. It’s also one of the reasons that Mary-Russell thought everyone should be taught art and made sure that art was part of the Museum of Northern Arizona, along with science. This Friday we visit Mary-Russell’s home and art studio to learn about her life and try an art activity inspired by MRFC. Museum of Northern Arizona educator Mari Soliday presents a short education program for kids on the MNA Facebook page, including an activity to try at home. If you watch it live, you can ask questions in the comments. Past programs can be found in the video section of the MNA Facebook page or on the MNA YouTube channel.
