The Star of Bethlehem is part of our culture and our Christmas traditions. Its nature has intrigued and inspired modern astronomers to look for a tangible explanation, something we could understand in terms of physics. This talk explores some of the possible candidates from the astronomical point of view, and then introduces another possibility: that the Star of Bethlehem was the natal horoscope of a prominent king. This alternative theory, based on Chaldean astrology, was proposed by Michael Molnar in his book, The Star of Bethlehem: The Legacy of the Magi.
This talk will be given by Dr. Alma Ruiz-Velasco | Multi-Cultural Outreach Astronomer – Lowell Observatory
