Personalized Constellation Art Workshop
$22 includes all materials and instruction
Come downtown to the Drinking Horn Mead Hall for a very creative astronomy craft experience!
You'll create your own personalized solar system on a wood slice - a unique Flagstaff souvenir or gift for yourself or for a loved one. It shows our solar system with the sun, the exact location of the planets and their orbits on the special date you choose, for example your birthday.
Flagstaff's Drinking Horn Mead Hall is one of the coziest, most unique and convivial community spaces you'll ever visit. This science craft event could also be an amazing date idea or family fun afternoon.
**Pick from two available sessions: 2 pm or 4 pm. Each session will last around 90 minutes.**
I will have your specific solar system chart printed out and will show you how to place the sun and the planets on the 6 -7 inch diameter wood slice. The sun is a star-shaped pewter piece, and Planet Earth is a blue swarovski crystal. All materials are included.
I'll also share some astronomy fun facts and Native American night sky stories.
Flagstaff is home to Lowell Observatory, where the planet Pluto was discovered on February 18, 1930 (so exactly 93 years ago!)Flagstaff also sits amid the largest contiguous Ponderosa forest in the world, and to give homage to the Ponderosas your solar system will be placed on the concentric rings of a wood slice, a beautiful cross section of a pine.
This will be a one-of-a-kind and meaningful gift or keepsake for yourself or a loved one. Maybe the date you choose is your own (or a loved one's) birthday, or the date of a wedding anniversary.
All I need ahead of time is to know your specific date (year, month, day) so I can print the chart, which you'll need for the craft workshop. Contact Nikki at NHSchwabacher@gmail.com
