Wednesday Night Blues at Charly's
The NAZBA Wednesday Night Blues Jam at Charly's has an exciting lineup for 5 nights this month starting off with national touring and Delmarl recording artist Johnny Burgin II. The Howlin’ Wolf tribute Howlin’ at Greaseland (nominated for a Blues Music Award (BMA) for Best Traditional Blues Recording) and Johnny Burgin Live, which featured blues legend Charlie Musselwhite and was nominated for a Blues Blast Best Live Recording Award for 2019. His latest CD, “Ramblin’ From Coast to Coast”, has made several Best-Of-’24 lists and received a Blues Blast nomination for Best Traditional Blues CD. Don't miss this show!
Next up is the fabulous Sister of Soul, Renee Rice, who was recently inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame® (Arizona) and the incredible keyboard work of Les Paul Roque, who was Billy Paul's musical director for seven years. You'll hear a wide range of Blues and R&B from these two, guaranteed to get you on the dance floor!
Mid-month features Big Daddy D, Darryl Porras, up from the Phoenix area, bringing his combination of old school and traditional Blues to the stage. Darryl was recently inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame® (Arizona) and was in the Croa band that finished in second place in the 2022 Memphis International Blues Challenge.
Next up is a great combination of Texas and Chicago Blues, featuring Dennis Herrera and Chicago Bob, both from Prescott. Dennis is also a member of the Blues Hall of Fame® in both California and Texas.
Rounding out the month from Cottonwood is harmonica extraordinaire, Ray DeSylvester, who will be accompanied by none other than Chuck Hall from Phoenix. Ray will give you that old school Chicago feel, playing many of the standards from Little Walter, Willie Dixon and many others and Chuck will do what he does, which is always cool! Both Ray and Chuck are members of the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame.
