About Us
Housed in the historic John Milton Clark home, Josephine’s was established in June of 2002. Named in honor of Chef Tony's late mother, the Flagstaff, Arizona restaurant’s commitment to exceptional food, wine, service and atmosphere reflect the lessons she taught him. Chef Tony and his wife Marlene, who manages the dining room operations of Josephine's, work together to bring excellence in dining to Flagstaff. The philosophy behind the restaurant is to offer exceptional food in an elegant, yet casual setting.
We strive to provide our customers with the freshest and best quality ingredients available. In doing this we try our best to be a “conscientious buyer”. This includes buying local products, buying sustainably produced items and buying organic/natural when available.
The building itself was completed in 1911 and was considered one of the finest structures in Flagstaff. This former home, which has been occupied by several noteworthy Flagstaff families, is listed on the national historic register.
The architectural styling of the house is part of the utilitarian Craftsman Bungalow movement, which was popular near the turn of the century. The house was also the first in Flagstaff to be constructed with the native malpais rock, which is still exemplified in modern architecture around Northern Arizona. To this day the building retains most of its original design.
