Chef Rochelle Daniel, Who Put Northern Arizona on the Culinary Map, is Opening a French Bistro, Bakery and Speakeasy This Summer
Two-Time James Beard Semifinalist Adds Pompette and Little Rich Girl to Historic Downtown Flagstaff

Flagstaff, Ariz. (June 22, 2026) – Two-time James Beard Award semifinalist Rochelle Daniel is expanding her Flagstaff restaurant portfolio this summer with two new restaurants on Leroux Street in historic downtown: Pompette, a French bistro and bakery, and Little Rich Girl (LRG), an underground speakeasy-style cocktail bar located beneath Atria and Pompette.

The openings mark a significant expansion for Daniel, the chef and owner of Atria, the modern-American restaurant that has made Flagstaff a dining destination since 2021. With Pompette and LRG opening steps away, Leroux Street becomes home to three distinct restaurants under her ownership, a rare concentration of chef-driven dining in the heart of Northern Arizona.

Pompette: French Bistro and Bakery
Pompette brings the warmth and conviviality of a classic French bistro to the high desert. The bakery will open each morning with fresh pastries and artisan breads from Pastry Chef Alicia Motter, available through a grab-and-go counter.

Full-service lunch and dinner follow daily, with a menu of French-inspired classics — among them steak frites, mussels, tuna tartare, coq au vin and meats prepared on a custom open-fire hearth — executed with the precision and ingredient-first philosophy Daniel has become known for. Early menu standouts are likely to include Poulet Rôti with potato, dill and mustard velouté; Short Rib Bourguignon with pearl onion, bacon, crimini mushrooms and carrots; a Lobster Roll with Old Bay spices, celery and garlic aioli on a house-made brioche bun; and Grilled Wagyu Skewers.

The space itself reflects the spirit of the menu: custom-tiled floors, rich wood tones and playful floral touches, striking a balance between elegance and ease.

Little Rich Girl (LRG): Underground Speakeasy Cocktail Bar
Downstairs, LRG occupies a building that has stood for more than a century in a city with a documented history of underground drinking, secret tunnels and Prohibition-era contraband. The bar was conceived as a natural extension of that history, intimate, unhurried and serious about its craft.

The room is anchored by a central bar and finished in deep blue velvets, rich purples and dark wood paneling. The cocktail program is led by Beverage Director Michael Hopper, named Top Mixologist/Bartender by the 2025 Foodist Awards, the highest culinary honor in Arizona. Hopper and Daniel are the only culinary duo in the state to each hold a Foodist Award.

The food menu resists easy categorization: caviar service and foie gras pâté share space with a signature Smashburger, a cinnamon roll iced tableside and a hot fudge sundae. There is also the Glizzy, a dirty hot dog with all the things, and Tots and Shots, a spirited pairing of tater tots topped with caviar and parmesan and a shot of chilled vodka, because at Little Rich Girl, the menu is as unpretentious as the drinks are exacting.

“Downtown Flagstaff is something special, and Leroux Street will soon be at the center of its food scene,” said Daniel. “Between Atria, Pompette and Little Rich Girl, we're creating the kind of culinary corner that usually only exists in much larger cities. This community showed up for Atria from the very beginning, and that support is a big part of why I keep building here. Each restaurant is a chance to explore something new, a different cuisine, a different atmosphere and I can't think of a better city to do that in."

An Arizona native, Daniel opened Atria in 2021 after years as an executive chef in Scottsdale and has since become one of the most recognized culinary voices in the Southwest. She holds two James Beard Foundation semifinalist nominations, for Best Chef: Southwest in 2026 and Emerging Chef in 2022; was inducted into the Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame as Best Upcoming Chef in 2017; and earned the Foodist Award for Top Chef in 2023. Her national profile extends to television, with recent appearances on CBS's "America's Culinary Cup" and as a finalist on Food Network's "Chopped Grill Masters."

Pompette and LRG are expected to open later this summer, with an exact date to be announced in the coming weeks. Pompette will serve fresh pastries, bread and grab-and-go from 8 to 11 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. daily. Little Rich Girl will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. until midnight or later. For more, visit PompetteFlagstaff.com and LittleRichGirl.com.
