Position Title: Carpenter Apprentice
Reports to: Lead Carpenter, Journeyman Carpenter
Job Summary: The Carpenter Apprentice is an entry-level position within the construction team, working under the guidance and supervision of the Lead Carpenter and Journeyman Carpenter. They are responsible for assisting with various carpentry tasks while learning the trade and developing their skills. This role offers hands-on training and practical experience in carpentry techniques and practices, preparing apprentices for successful careers in the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
1. Assistance with Carpentry Tasks: Assist Lead Carpenter and Journeyman Carpenter with construction, installation, and repair of wooden structures and fixtures, including framing, cabinets, doors, and windows.
2. Tool and Material Preparation: Prepare and organize tools, materials, and equipment for carpentry tasks, ensuring they are readily available and in good working condition.
3. Learning and Skill Development: Learn and apply carpentry techniques, practices, and safety procedures under the guidance of experienced carpenters, gradually developing proficiency and expertise in the trade.
4. Observation and Collaboration: Observe and learn from Lead Carpenter and Journeyman Carpenter during carpentry tasks, asking questions and seeking clarification as needed to enhance understanding.
5. Quality Control: Assist in maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality control by following instructions carefully and paying attention to detail in all tasks.
6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and procedures at all times to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and fellow team members.
7. Communication: Communicate effectively with Lead Carpenter, Journeyman Carpenter, and other team members, seeking guidance and feedback to support learning and skill development.
8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and skills acquired during the apprenticeship, tracking progress and achievements over time.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent: Completion of high school education or equivalent is preferred but not required.
2. Physical Fitness: Good physical health and stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
3. Interest in Carpentry: Genuine interest in carpentry and construction work, with a desire to learn and develop skills in the trade.
4. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, following instructions and contributing to the successful completion of tasks.
5. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship in all tasks.
6. Willingness to Learn: Eagerness to learn and grow as a carpenter, accepting feedback and guidance from experienced professionals to improve skills and knowledge.
7. Reliability: Dependable and punctual attendance, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to the apprenticeship program.
8. Transportation: Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
