Journeyman Electrician

Position Title: Journeyman Electrician

Reports to: Electrical Project Manager

Job Summary: The Journeyman Electrician holds a critical role within the electrical project team, operating under the guidance and supervision of the Electrical Project Manager (PM). They are responsible for performing a wide range of electrical tasks, including installation, maintenance, and repair, while also providing mentorship and training to Electrician Assistants. Their expertise, combined with their ability to lead and instruct, ensures the successful execution of projects and the development of junior team members.

Responsibilities:

1. Electrical Work: Execute the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.

2. Blueprint Interpretation: Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to plan and implement the layout and installation of electrical components effectively.

3. Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to local and national electrical codes, regulations, and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.

4. Training and Mentorship: Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and mentorship to Electrician Assistants, assisting in their skill development and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

5. Supervision and Oversight: Supervise Electrician Assistants during daily tasks, offering support, feedback, and direction to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently.

6. Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control throughout all project phases, conducting inspections and addressing any issues promptly to meet project objectives.

7. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Electrical Project Manager, fellow electricians, subcontractors, and other construction professionals to coordinate activities and achieve project milestones.

8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks, providing regular updates and reports to the Electrical Project Manager as necessary.

Qualifications:

1. Technical Proficiency: Strong technical skills in electrical systems, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics accurately.

2. Code Knowledge: Thorough understanding of local and national electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.

3. Leadership Abilities: Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor junior team members.

4. Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting abilities and the capacity to identify and resolve electrical issues efficiently.

5. Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills.

6. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.

7. Physical Fitness: Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and working in various environments.
