Position Title: Laborer - Electrical
Reports to: Electrical Project Manager, Journeyman Electrician
Job Summary: The Laborer is an entry-level position within the electrical construction team, working under the supervision and guidance of the Electrical Project Manager (PM) and Journeyman Electrician. They play a vital role in supporting the completion of electrical projects by assisting with various tasks related to construction, installation, and maintenance. As they gain experience and knowledge, they have the opportunity to learn the electrical trade and develop their skills under the mentorship of experienced professionals.
Responsibilities:
1. Material Handling: Assist with the loading, unloading, and transportation of materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
2. Site Preparation: Prepare work sites by clearing debris, digging trenches, and setting up barriers or safety signs as directed by the Electrical Project Manager or Journeyman Electrician.
3. Assistance with Installation: Aid the Journeyman Electrician in the installation of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment, including holding tools, passing materials, and performing basic assembly tasks.
4. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and procedures at all times to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others, reporting any safety hazards or concerns to the Electrical Project Manager or Journeyman Electrician.
5. Tool Maintenance: Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of electrical tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition.
6. Learning and Development: Learn and apply basic electrical concepts and techniques under the guidance of the Journeyman Electrician, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.
7. Documentation: Keep accurate records of tasks performed, materials used, and time spent on assignments, providing updates to the Electrical Project Manager or Journeyman Electrician as required.
8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the Electrical Project Manager, Journeyman Electrician, and other team members to accomplish project goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent: Completion of high school education or equivalent is preferred but not required.
2. Interest in Electrical Work: Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the electrical field, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
3. Physical Fitness: Good physical condition with the ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
4. Team Player: Ability to work well within a team environment, following instructions and collaborating with others effectively.
5. Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
6. Safety Consciousness: Awareness of safety protocols and a commitment to adhering to them at all times.
